Order your invitations 4 months before the wedding
to allow ample time for any errors that may need to be corrected. Rush orders
can almost double the cost of your invitations.
Order at least 25 more invitations than you think you will
need. It is always better to have more than not enough. This way you will have
extras for invitations that are returned in the mail, if you mess up addressing
the envelope, or notice that you left someone off the original guest list.
It is cheaper to order them all at the same time rather than
ordering more invites later on.
Make sure you check the postage on your invitations.
Postage is measured by weight and by the envelope dimensions. Heavy stationary
and inserts require more postage. Sometimes square or oddly shaped envelopes
may require more postage as well.
Check with the post office to make sure that the postage
rates are not going up. For example, if you need your response cards back by
April, and the postage is going up in March, you will need to make sure that you
have the correct amount of postage on your response cards.
Mail all of your invitations
at the same time so that they are less likely to get lost in the mail.
This also avoids the embarrassment of one family getting their invitation in the mail two weeks prior to
another family.
You may want to consider using postcards for your response
cards as they are cheaper on postage fees.
You can go to your local post office and find a variety of
stamps with love or hearts on them to fit the wedding theme.
Mail invitations out 6 weeks prior to the wedding.
