Make sure you have a
practice hair and make-up session. Ideally you want to coordinate your
appointments with the same day that you have your bridal portraits taken. Bring
your veil and any other hair accessories with you.
It is best to have dirty hair for your up-do as the hair tends to stay better
with your natural oils.
If you are going to take your veil off, let your stylist know in advance so that
she may take it in to consideration when creating your perfect hairstyle.
You will want to wear a button up shirt (as will the bridesmaids and moms) when
you get your hair done. This way you don’t have to take your shirt off over
your head and mess up your pretty up-do!
Do not make any drastic hair changes before the big day. (In other words, don’t
cut all your hair off, get a perm, or change your hair color.)
Many hair stylists and make-up artists will travel to your location the day of
the wedding. This is a fun way to get all of the bridesmaids together for hair
and make-up and catch up on gossip. This can also be your wedding gift to the
girls.
You will need to get your highlights/color touched up and a trim two weeks
before the wedding.
The groom will need to get a haircut the week of the wedding, but not the day
of.
Do NOT get a facial the day before your wedding. Many women tend to break out
after getting a facial and that is not how you want to look on your wedding
day. Try getting it done a week or two in advance.
Get your manicure and pedicure the day before the wedding. You don’t want to do
it the day of because you will have too many other things going on.
Remember that you will be showing off your ring to all the guests at your
wedding so you want your hands to look nice. French manicures or a light color
pink polish look good in pictures. You can even have your nails buffed for a
nice natural look.
To get some relaxing and quality time with your fiancée before the wedding, take
him to the spa with you and have him get a pedicure and manicure as well. His
toes will look good on the beach on the honeymoon and hands will look nice in
the wedding pictures as well.
